On the way back from the Oregon Zoo, we stopped at Keizer Station to get some pictures of the steam engine that was recently put on display there. It is a 3 foot gauge engine built in 1904 by Baldwin for a railroad in Mexico. Here are some pictures of the engine.
Finnish National Railways #418 is a wood burning 2-8-0 steam locomotive on display in Founder's Park in Junction City, OR. It was origionally donated to the city of Portland, OR in 1960, and then donated to the city of Junction City in 1980. It was built by Linne & Jern in 1904. Her sister engine #293 is supposed to be on display in St. Petersburg. This engine saw service in the Winter War between Finland and Russia and still has some scars and bullet holes. On Aughst 25, 2007 my son Peter and I took a ride on the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad in Mineral, WA. We had a ride in the cab of Hammon Lumber Company #17 for the afternoon Trestle Turn.

Yesterday I got a CD in the mail from Tim Bainter with quite a few pictures. First the bad news, the Old Wakarusa Railroad is no more. The rails have all been torn up and the train has been moved. On Feb 21, 2007 two Norfolk Southern freight trains collided and derailed in Goshen, Indiana. Tim Bainter was able to go and get some pictures of the cleanup .

On August 26, 2006 we took a ride on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad in Garibaldi, OR for my son Peter's 18th birthday. Peter and I had a ride in the cab of their Heisler locomotive. Here is the website for the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad .
On July 13, 2006 I was a chaparon for a field trip for my son Steven's class at James Monroe Middle School. We went to Oaks Amusement park, then took a ride on the Columbia Gorge sternwheeler. Here are some pictures from the ride. During the trip, I was able to take several pictures on the UP railroad on the Oregon side and the BNSF on the Washington side.
