McKenzie Pass and Strawberry Hill

This past weekend we made a couple of short trips. On Saturday we drove over McKenzie Pass and then on Sunday we drove out to the coast to visit Strawberry Hill.

Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler

On July 13, 2006 I was a chaparon for a field trip for my son Steven's class at James Monroe Middle School. We went to Oaks Amusement park, then took a ride on the Columbia Gorge sternwheeler. Here are some pictures from the ride. During the trip, I was able to take several pictures on the UP railroad on the Oregon side and the BNSF on the Washington side.

In November 2005, I went to a conference in Montery, CA. Here are some pictures taken of the bay area, including some pictures of some sea lions and sea otters.

Union Pacific Challenger Visit

The Union Pacific Challenger #3985 arrived in Eugene, OR for a visit on Sept 7, 2005 on it's way to Portland. Here are some pictures taken as it came into town. It was on display at the railroad yard on Sept 8 before going to Portland, OR.

Coastal Express

The Coastal Express ran on the Central Oregon and Pacific Railroad from Eugene to Coos Bay on July 23, 2005. Here are some pictures taken as the train was leaving Eugene.

Move to Oregon

As many of you already know, I have started a new position with the University of Oregon and have moved to the Eugene, Oregon area.

Along the way I stopped to take some pictures of the Echo Canyon area near Echo, Utah and also the Golden Spike National Historic Site in Promentary, Utah.

I then traveled along the Columbia River Gorge and on the weekend of June 4 drove through the Three Sisters area.

Jerry Macri's Model Railroad

On February 15, 2005 the Indiana Model Train Visitor's Club visited the home of Jerry Macri to view his model of the Pennsylvania Railroad. This monster layout features 1800 yards of track and includes the Horseshoe Curve. Here are some pictures from this visit.

Carl Tuverson Model Railroad

For the month of October, the Indiana Model Train Visitor's Club visited Carl Tuverson's S Gauge Railroad. Carl has a nice collection of A.C. Gilbert American Flyer models along with every piece made by Lionel since they bought American Flyer.

Baltimore Harbor Pictures

Here are some pictures taken in the Baltimore harbor area on October 11, 2004. Included are pictures of the USS Constellation, a sailing vessel for the US Navy built in 1854, the USCGC Tany, the last surviving warship from the attack at Perl Harbor, the submaring USS Torsk and the Lightship Chesapeake along with other areas of interest.
