On the way back from the Oregon Zoo, we stopped at Keizer Station to get some pictures of the steam engine that was recently put on display there. It is a 3 foot gauge engine built in 1904 by Baldwin for a railroad in Mexico. Here are some pictures of the engine.
On June 20, 2009 the Washington Park & Zoo Railroad celebrated the 50th birthday of the Oregon Steam Engine. Here are some pictures from that day.
Finnish National Railways #418 is a wood burning 2-8-0 steam locomotive on display in Founder's Park in Junction City, OR. It was origionally donated to the city of Portland, OR in 1960, and then donated to the city of Junction City in 1980. It was built by Linne & Jern in 1904. Her sister engine #293 is supposed to be on display in St. Petersburg. This engine saw service in the Winter War between Finland and Russia and still has some scars and bullet holes. On May 25, 2009 we took a 2 hour sightseeing cruise on the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler. Since it was a windy day there were a number of windsurfers and kite boarders. Here are some pictures from the trip.
